Harney County Judge Bill Hart

Judge Bill Hart was born in Burns. He graduated from Burns Union High School, and later attended Colorado Technical University where he graduated with honors and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal  Justice. Bill is married to his wife Bobbi Jo and they have two daughters.

Bill retired from a 34-year career in law enforcement in 2022. He began his public service career in the U.S. Military and is a Veteran of the Oregon Army National Guard and the U.S. Air Force. During his military and law enforcement career Bill served and traveled to over a dozen foreign countries and responded to natural disasters, like hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, 2017. He was elected to the office of Harney County Judge in 2022 and is serving in his first six-year term.

Judge Hart has over 30 years of leadership, supervision and program management experience from his military and law enforcement career. These skills will be crucial in leading the County for the next 6 years.
